Download from one place only

Always get easyBTX from this website, using the download button, or from our official GitHub releases linked here. Do not trust a copy sent to you in a chat, a forum, or any site that is not ours. A miner is exactly the kind of app a bad actor likes to fake, so where you got the file matters more than anything else. If you are ever unsure, come back here and download a fresh copy.

Your antivirus might flag it, and here is why

Some antivirus tools flag easyBTX as a trojan, a miner, a PUP, or a RiskTool. As far as we can tell, that is a false positive. easyBTX is a GPU miner that is not yet code-signed, and unsigned mining software very commonly trips heuristic scanners that treat "a miner" plus "not signed by a big company" as suspicious by default. This happens on both Mac and Windows. On Mac that means Gatekeeper and the developer-verification warning; on Windows it can mean SmartScreen and Microsoft Defender, or another antivirus, flagging an unsigned miner. We run our own checks on every release and it looks clean to us, and we publish a public VirusTotal scan for each build so you can see the result for yourself.

We will be honest about the limit, though: a clean scan and our own review are not a guarantee. Code signing is the proper fix for these warnings, Apple notarization on Mac and a signing certificate on Windows, and it is on our list.

There is always some risk

easyBTX is a personal, for-fun project, shared as-is with no warranty. Crypto is volatile and BTX is very early, so treat anything you mine as uncertain, never as income. Mining also runs your GPU hard, on a Mac or a Windows PC, which means more heat and power use. Back up your wallet, keep your recovery file somewhere safe and offline, and only run this if you are comfortable with all of that. Nothing here is financial advice.

Your keys stay yours

easyBTX is self-custodial by design. On Mac your wallet lives on your machine, and you can even send your mining payouts to an external address so the coins never touch this machine at all. On Windows the pool pays to a payout address you choose, which is yours. We never see your keys, your recovery file, or your coins. There is no account, and no server is holding anything for you.

Why we built it

There is no company behind easyBTX and no pitch. We built it because we think BTX, a quantum-resistant take on Bitcoin, is genuinely interesting, and because mining it from a Mac or a Windows PC should be simple. People who were early to Bitcoin watched it grow over many years. BTX is very early, and that is the part we find interesting. That is honest curiosity, not a prediction, and not a plan for anyone else.

The technology is part of the fun too. BTX's consensus is built on matmul, matrix multiplication, the same kind of math behind modern AI, rather than plain hashing. Securing a chain that way is an unusual and genuinely cool idea, and it is a big reason we enjoy working on this. We made easyBTX for fun, and we share it in case you want it too.
